CURRENT SKINCARE ROUTINE

If you have been following me for a while on YouTube or Instagram, you will know that I struggle with acne. There have been times where my skin is good and sometimes it is downright awful. Right now it is somewhere in between but this is my current skincare routine to try and combat acne.

Recently I went on a 30 day dose of Doxycycline to help with my acne. It helped a lot and if you watch my first moving vlog, you will see how much it cleared up. Since being off Doxycycline, my skin has kind of gone back to how it was. I don’t think it’s as bad but it definitely is not completely clear.

I have recently begun using Differin gel to help combat breakouts. I was using it pretty inconsistently for the past month or so but now I have committed to using it every day at night. I’m really trying to see if it will help and give it a fair shot.

MORNING

I like to keep my morning routine very simple.

First step is always cleanser which is usually the Cerave Foaming Facial Cleanser or the Neutrogena Hydro Boost hydrating cleansing gel. I like them both a lot but the Cerave one is definitely cheaper for the amount of product you get.

Second I go in with moisturizer. I have recently started using the Olay 7 In One Moisturizer with SPF 15 and I really like it. It’s nice and hydrating for the daytime but isn’t too much or heavy feeling on the skin.

Third step in my routine is always sunscreen. Even though the Olay has SPF 15, I like something with SPF 30 or higher for daytime. I either use the Neutrogena Hydro Boost SPF 30 or the Neutrogena Clear Face SPF 55.

NIGHT

Just like in the morning, I like to clean my face with either cleanser. They both seem to take off makeup extremely well so I use one to take off makeup. I then get more cleanser and clean my face one more time to make sure all the makeup is off my skin.

Second, since Differin Gel can be drying on the skin, I place Aquaphor on areas with thin skin. I place it on my lips and on the skin outside the lips as well as the undereyes/eyelids and the area around the nose. These are areas I tend to get dry with harsher products.

Third, I take a pea sized amount of Differin and apply all over the face.

Lastly, after the Differin has absorbed into the skin, I apply the Cerave Daily Moisturizing Lotion all over the face.

Like I said, I am keeping my routine very simple to try not to irritate the skin. My acne journey is unfortunately not over but these are the products I am using right now to try and combat breakouts.
